During the Covid semi-lockdown in 2021, a group of professional musicians got together and enjoyed playing so much they decided to form a string quartet and perform in public. Jarualda was the name chosen for the quartet, and while there is no literal meaning to the this, it is intended to convey the notion that all the players are of equal importance and that together they form far more than the sum of the parts. 

 

Performing a large range of music, from standard classics to more modern repertoire, they comprise Ruth Henley, ’cello, David Joyce, violin, Jane Park, viola and Alex Postlethwaite, violin. Their programme will include works by Haydn, Beethoven, Shostakovich and Ruth’s husband, Paul Henley.
